Junta provisional del Ayuntamiento de México
The situation taking place in Spain was soon reflected in America as a consequence of these situations the Ayuntamiento in Mexico city proposed to reject any order that came from Spain until Charles IV or Ferdinand VII held power again. This proposal was done by Juan Francisco Azcarate and Francisco Primo de Verdad sindícos of the Ayuntamiento. The ayuntamiento tried to govern in an independent way as long as a french man seat in the crown of Spain.
This proposal was greatly received by the Viceroy José de Iturrigaray and the Spanish merchants of “El Parian” in the capital city though they accepted the proposal, they were leaded by Gabriel Yermo who started a mutiny helped by the clergy and the inquisition which try to destroy Iturrrigaray and place Pedro de Garibay as viceroy. Iturrigaray, Azcarate and Primo de Verdad were sent to prison and Pedro de Gribay was named Viceroy of New Spain.
